ESP Rise is a baseball training app for youth players (ages 8–18), their parents or guardians, and ESP coaches. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. We wrote it in plain English on purpose.
The short version
- A parent or guardian creates the account and then adds each child. Children cannot sign up on their own.
- We collect only what we need to coach: names, login details, birth date, training numbers, and videos the family chooses to upload.
- No ads. No third-party tracking or analytics. We never sell or rent data.
- Videos are private. Only the player, linked parents, and ESP coaches can see them. There is no public feed and no chat between players.
- Parents can turn video off, and can delete a child's training data, at any time.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
Some players are under 13. We follow the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- Parent-created accounts. Only a parent or guardian can create a player account, from inside the parent's own account. The parent provides the child's details and confirms they are the parent or guardian.
- Verifiable consent for video. Video capture and upload are off until the parent turns them on and confirms they are the parent or guardian. Each consent is recorded with its version and date.
- Minimum data. We do not ask a child for more information than training needs. We do not collect a child's location, contacts, or phone number.
- Parent rights. A parent can review the child's information in the app, turn off video, delete the child's training data, or ask us to delete everything by emailing info@espbaseball.com. We will not further collect the child's data once consent is withdrawn.
- No behavioral advertising and no disclosure to third parties for their own purposes.
What we collect
| Data | From whom | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address, password (stored hashed by our auth provider) | Parents, players, coaches | Sign-in and identifying who's who |
| Player username, date of birth, age group, bats/throws, position, team | Entered by the parent | Placing the player in the right program and age group |
| Parent–child links and consent records (video allowed, Mid-Atlantic Rage Long Island staff sharing opt-in, guardian confirmation, date) | Parent | Who may see a player's data, and proof of consent |
| Velocity readings (exit velo / pitch velo, mph, notes, date), entered by hand from a Pocket Radar | Player or parent | Progress tracking |
| Swing metrics imported from a Blast Motion CSV file | Player or parent | Progress tracking |
| Swing and pitch videos and notes to the coach (camera or photo library, only with parent permission) | Player | Coach review |
| Coach feedback, drill assignments and progress | Coach / player | Training |
| Plan/membership status (e.g., team fee, comp, or web purchase) | ESP | Unlocking the right features |
We do not collect location, contacts, advertising IDs, or payment card details in the app. Plans are bought on espbaseball.com, not in the app; that website has its own payment processing.
Device permissions
- Camera / microphone: to record a swing or pitch video with sound. Used only when the player records.
- Photo library / media: to pick an existing video to upload. You can deny these; the rest of the app still works.
How we use it
Only to run the training program: show progress, prepare parent reports, let coaches review videos and give feedback, and provide drills. We do not use the data for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.
Who can see it
- The player and their linked parents/guardians.
- ESP coaches.
- Mid-Atlantic Rage Long Island staff: only if the parent opts in to sharing for that player. It is off by default, and nothing is shared with them unless the parent opts in.
- Service providers: our data is stored with Supabase (database, login, and file storage) on servers in the United States, and the app is built and updated with Expo. They process data only on our behalf.
- Legal: if required by law or to protect someone's safety.
Security
Data travels over HTTPS. Database access rules make sure each user sees only the players they are allowed to see. Videos are stored in a private bucket, not publicly linkable. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Keeping and deleting data
- Delete in the app: a parent can open Privacy in the parent account and delete a child's training data (videos, radar numbers, drills, and the account link).
- Delete an account completely: delete it in the app (Help > Delete account), or request deletion through https://espbaseball.com/rise-delete-account or by emailing info@espbaseball.com from the account email. We will delete the account and all related data within 30 days and confirm by email, except that copies in backups roll off within 30 days after that, and parental consent records and payment records are kept as legally required.
- What we keep after deletion: After deletion, we keep only parental consent records and payment records, as legally required. Nothing else is kept.
- Retention: we keep data while the account is active. Inactive accounts are deleted after 24 months. Backups roll off within 30 days.
Your choices and rights
You can view and correct your information in the app, withdraw video consent, request a copy, or request deletion by contacting us. Residents of some states (for example, California) have additional rights; we honor them for all users.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes affecting children, ask parents for consent again where required.
